Court Reportable Family Therapy

This service is available to families referred by the Family Court of Australia for reportable family therapy.

The service is child-focused and aims to help parents develop effective co-parenting strategies and relationships that foster a healthy environment for their children.

Our goal is to help family members discuss the issues they are currently facing, ensuring that all members of the family have the opportunity to be heard. We work together to find solutions to identified issues and relationship barriers, acknowledge past difficulties, and create a solution-focused narrative for a co-parented, child-focused future.

Our Approach

The initial assessment phase includes up to 12 sessions with family members, and where appropriate, joint meetings. After this assessment, a report is prepared for the court, with recommendations on how the family can progress. The report may suggest further therapy, as the initial phase primarily focuses on evaluation, recommendations, and observations. This phase sets the foundation for continued work towards the family’s goals and desired outcomes, typically centred on separated parental relationships with child-focused objectives.

Parenting Coordination

In some cases, the court may appoint a Parenting Coordinator to assist in negotiating parenting decisions. The family therapist helps facilitate decision-making based on the views of both parents and children. In some instances, the Parenting Coordinator may make independent recommendations. The best outcomes are achieved when both parents share similar goals for therapy and parenting coordination.

Costs

• Initial Assessment (12 sessions): $3,000
• Court Report: $3,000 + GST
• Ongoing Family Therapy or Further Reportable Activities: Priced as above (typically in 12-session appointment blocks)

Referral Process

Referrals are typically made through the Family Court of Australia, with the assistance of each party’s legal professionals.
